YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hi Folks,
I was telling you that I have 3 Euskal Oiloa Marraduna Basque chickens and 3 Pita Pinta chickens. I am going to attach pictures of both in case anyone is interested to see what they look like. Both breeds are a Land Race from Spain and are know to be friendly, good foragers, and predator savvy. We'll see. The 3 EO's are 1- 1 yr old, the other 2, 14 wks. The 3 Pita Pinta, the black and white are 8 wks. old. As they molt and grow, their feathers will become more black, but there should be a 70% show of white in the tail at maturity.

I think I'm right about the white.

I live in Barnesville georgia
Welcome.

Here's how it looks. I use a glass and warm (not hot) water and do one at a time so I don't get interference from other eggs. A negative result is no movement.

Hi, haven't seen you in a while, good luck on your hatch.
HI! Work has been kicking my butt lately! All the managers keep taking turns taking vacations, so when we're AT work, no one has any time to slack! How's Acorn doing? Did you ever solve the boy/girl mystery?

I can't get the quoter to work correctly, but regarding the float test.. It's not just the level at which they float- that's for eating eggs. It's whether or not they wiggle as well while floating. Just FYI. But so glad you have some action now!! Fingers crossed..

if I test an egg and it floats, I ain't eatin it, I ain't even risking cracking it open for what it might smell like....ummm, no thank you!

Tried it again and I don't think I saw any wiggling. :( Might be just the two chicks this hatch, if both get out of the eggs. I'm going to hold out hope though! I've been wrong about many things before, so back in the 'bator they go. Hopefully they're just not feeling particularly active right now.

What is the float test? How do I do it and what is a positive result? What's a negative one?
Well CarCar covered it!! LoL!!!
