YO GEORGIANS! :)

yeah, I just thought it was odd she was in the nest but the egg was in the floor. I guess it's like when ya sometimes feel like you gotta go to the bathroom, then get in there and don't, but when you leave, it hits again a few minutes later.  She apparently didn't believe it the second time  :lau

Uh....could someone tell my girls that? They alternate between sending me on an Easter Egg hunt to laying in the nest box like good girls.

I think some of it is to see if I can climb over stuff by the back fence to reach their egg nests there. They're probably recording it so if I fall and bust my butt, they can post it on YouTube.

I should add.. My birds don't free range while I'm away during the day. So laying is finished by the time they go out, if they go. Otherwise I feel certain they could find WAY more places to hide stuff. :p

This is the rent from my 4 girls. They started laying June 1st, then each subsequently thereafter. I have given 2 dozens away and cooked 1 dozen. So far a total of about 6 dozens in the past 6 weeks. I'm so proud of them, as this is my first time raising chickens!

Ah, that must be it. My girls free-range all day and go in the coop at night. I haven't lost one to a predator in almost a year.

Congrats Calima! My girls give me way more eggs than I can eat as well.

Well I started out that way with chickens, and going into my first fall (almost a year) I lost my entire flock in one day while at work. So, that soured me to leaving them out.

We also have a *major* loose/stray dog problem around here too though. If you pay attention you'll notice people who walk a lot in/around town carry large sticks. Didn't take me long to figure out they're not walking sticks. :gig

Mine are behind a 6' high chain link fence. I lost 2 to predators after I moved them there, but after putting some tree branches against the back fence (where the killings occurred), I've had no issues.

I would be heartbroken if I lost my entire flock at once. Heck-I had trouble just losing the two I did to predators. It came after I lost two others when the coop was on the side of the house instead of the backyard.
