YO GEORGIANS! :)

Aw it's not your fault!! I learned something though.. I think it was actually a BYC thread that came up on a google search (I set out to prove to hubby her eggs will NOT "turn green" as she continues to lay :gig )..

I read that if a bird has a straight comb, the chances of colored eggs are only like 3%? (Don't quote me on that but it was crazy low).. Now I know! (IF that is in fact true).
. Should be just fine.

Soooooo, get out the curling iron and go out there.....

Something terrifying just happened o_o we were outside letting the chickens free range and we were just sitting in the grass with them. And I saw something out of the corner of my eye, a hawk came from my neighbors yard, glided over the fence and swooped down to the ground to try to get one of the Chickies. As it came over the fence I stood up and yelled making the chickens scatter and the hawk flew away. The chickens never saw it coming till after I yelled. It was pretty scary, it would have heartbroken me if one of them had gotten mauled or taken away. I, and the chickens as well, always watch the sky, but I never expected a hawk to swoop down from the neighbors yard.

Just wait till the hawk lands in the woods, hops 20 feet through the woods, sits at the edge of your yard until a chicken walks close enough then the hawk jumps out of the tree line onto your chicken and drags it back into the woods. It was like watching an alligator attack.

I just noticed that a hawk has made a nest in a tree in our back yard. Or maybe it was an owl(?). IDK. It's got me on high alert because a couple of times I saw out of the corner of my eye, something swoop low through the trees like it was doing some recon. Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Now, I always try to bring a dog out there with me, but I'm sure that won't be so effective after a while, huh?

That would totally freak me out!

Shadesofsable, did your OE come from me or Rocky? I believe his were crosses of Legbar X Wellsummer. They would definitely lay olive green eggs. Do you have a photo of your chick?

That would be so scary and upsetting, my neighbors all help keep and eye out for foxes and you know my DH got rid of one, well my neighbor said they saw one crossing the road a ways down, it's ok I have a bullet for that one too.
