YO GEORGIANS! :)

I am SO excited, lol!! Hubby was coming down the driveway and I was jumping and waving like an idiot..

The color I'm sure will fade as she lays more but it's just so pretty! Funny how different the natural light brings it out and then inside looks blah.

I cannot WAIT for the other three to Kick in and then get some size on the eggs so I can fire up the bator again!
let me know before you fire it up please so I can collect a few to add to it. If you don't mind

So, DH has bought tickets to see his favorite band in Nashville at the end of this month. He NEVER does stuff like this(he surprised me with them) and I am starting to worry that I cannot go. I have no one to take care of the animals(yet. I'm working on it) and I have a really really difficult time trusting strangers in my house and messing with my stuff. But, just in case I have no other choice, does anyone know of folks who do chicken sitting? And a rabbit, too. Hopefully, in the Coweta County area? If all else fails, he understands he may have to go without me, but they're playing at the Ryman Auditorium and Nashville is already on my bucket list. Seeing a show there would be like a bucket list bonus!
how long will you be gone? does their feed and water last a few day? it won't hurt to leave them a few days you know, if they have enough food and water to last that long. We left ours while we went to KY and then to Gulf Shores, but then we did have our daughters come by a couple times while we were gone. But if you're just going for a few days it won't hurt to leave them.

who in our group is close to you? I wouldn't mind doing it if we were closer..........

Ask at your vet maybe one of the techs will do it for you for a nominal fee, if you can't find a BYCer close to you

We leave Friday afternoon. Back Sunday afternoon. The big kids out in the coop are probably fine. The littles that are waiting to be big enough for integration may need a little more attention. Since they like to dirty up the waterer/feeder & knock them over. I sitll have them inside. Honey is probably big enough to start meet & greets but she's 2 weeks older than DOmino and James, and twice as big. LOL

We've pretty much figured out that we'll have to board the dogs because they're too high maintenance (aka a special kind of PITA). Lucille is probably fine for a couple of nights too. All she needs is plenty of hay and I could leave extra pellets in her bowl. She's easy.

What a long day. I turned my tractor group out today for the first time. All 3 kittens and 3 dogs were minding their Ps & Qs. Until this evening when my one crazy black kitten who always gives the one free range bantam I have had out grief as he chased after her again. After a bit of yelling and threatening to do bodily harm to him he stopped and looked at me like what..what? Here it is the hour at hand, all of the other pens are putting themselves to bed in the coop…will the tractor birds? Then one by one off they tootled, one hen got confused hearing her friends from the window vents and flew to the run roof to their level. I talked to her and yes called her silly the she calmly let me pick her up and put her in the run. Okay this leaves one homesick Barred Cochin waddling around and around his old coop and pals. Wrong coop bud your a free range pretty boy now. So yup there I was going round and round until finally I was able to herd him back to his new place. WHHHHeeewww everyone tucked in for the night where they belong. This free range stuff his hard on the nerves, please tell me it gets better.

Is there any way those smaller ones could be taken to someones house for those few days? Are they in a crate where it can be moved? That way nobody would have to go in your home. Just a thought.

Congrats!  Beautiful egg!  I feel your excitement!  :celebrate

I am still waiting for mine...CCL and they are going on 20 weeks and still nothing. It makes me sad...I have not seen them squat yet either. The combs and wattles on one of them is starting to turn reddish now. While the other is still pale pink.
