YO GEORGIANS! :)

Any of y'all raise ducks? The fiancee and I just placed an order for four Khaki Cambell females and they'll arrive next week.

I have 6 Indian Runner Ducks and one Khaki Campbell. My DH wants me to sell the Khaki Campbell because she is hopping over the fence everyday. We let all the ducks go to the lake during the day, but once they come back we like them to go into the fenced yard (because we usually have lots of people here on the weekends - cars!) But, she likes to hop over and then quakes constantly! I love her, though. You will love the amount of eggs you get from your girls! Mine only misses laying about once every 4-5 months! Really!

Papa, are you still going to have room for the BCM? That is, if they can find them! I got the Lavender Ameraucana eggs today, but when I went to track the box of BCM eggs, it says they haven't left the original post office! Ugh.

Have any of my fellow Georgians ever received 1-day old chicks in the middle of October and raised them through the winter or should I wait until early March?

All the time! But, my chicks stay in the brooder under a heat lamp until they are about 3-4 weeks old, then they move to a huge crate or tractor inside the garage until they are old enough to go out to the big coop. During the day, they go outside into another tractor. (They go inside at night for protection only because my tractors are not predator proof)

yes ma'am! I definitely still want the two pullets as we discussed earlier. I have almost all of these sold already, I'm keeping a couple of the OE's (I hope that's what they turn out) for me and I am also going to give a few to my grand daughters flock as all of theirs are at least 4 years old and just about done laying. So yes ma'am, I definitely still want a couple of the BCM pullets :)

ok 4th egg under the broody was almost out when we got home from church tonight!

she didn't play either, I just noticed the pip at around 3:30 this afternoon

pasty butt bath time! noticed a few of the chicks with pasty butt. Brought them to the house to soak a couple minutes in warm water to clean them off. While I was closing the brooder back up with the 5 for bathtime in the carrier, they were raising cain being in there, the mamma broody jumped down from her nest with her four, and started circling the carrier pecking at it trying to get to the babies that were calling out! looks like even though young, she's gonna be a good mamma....
