Have anyone else's chickens started moulting? All my girls are moulting atm and it looks like big bird exploded in my backyard.
That worked well for me last year.
Yes you can't tell if something got one of your birds or they have been fighting crazy time, if it were me I'd like to loose my feathers when it is hot not coolMe too! They look like extras from the walking dead with all the oddly placed bald spots.
Kingheman: How old are your leghorns, what color are they ? Any need for a rooster ?
Hello everyone I'm in Cartersville ga and looking hard for some barred rock hens or Pullets if anyone has a lead I would appreciate you pointing me in the right direction
well heck, terrible turn out! where did you get these eggs? so I'm sure to not ever order from there!Well. This week's hatch is just about over. These were the shipped eggs. Terrible turnout. Of the 13 Lavender Ameraucana eggs, only 3 hatched. Of the 10 shipped BCM, only 1 hatched. Only 10 eggs actually made it to lockdown. All the others died before day 10! Blood rings! I had added 4 of my own eggs and 3 hatched so that gives me 7 chicks out of the 10 that made it to lockdown. Here are some photos of the Lav. Ams.
Papa, the chick on the left is a Blue Am from your eggs, the 3 to the right and on 'top' of the photo are the 3 Lav Ams. Then, you see the one BCM. (So, I guess you will need to find another source for your BCM! Sorry!)
What age are the leghorns? are they laying or POL? I would like to come get 3 or 4 of the leghorns pullets only. I am in Cedartown, but will gladly drive over there Thursday if you can be sure I'm going to get pulletsI'm in Conyers, GA.
We've got a family farm here, 8 acres, we're the second farming generation on the property. It's pretty neat to be doing projects the original owners were getting to 'one day' and leveraging all the way-more-farm-experienced buildings they built.
We raise layers and meat birds. I'm looking to build up a heritage flock.
Couple of things for you nearby folks:
1. Anyone know a processor for chickens? I can do 1-2 my self, but I'd like to get 5-10 done at once. We heard there was a place in Monroe, but they're closed now.
2. Do you know anyone who would like to start a flock? I have some Leghorns free to a good home.
Cheers,
Rebekah
