YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have never grown potatoes. I have the black thumb of death but I keep trying. Maybe some day I can upgrade to growing potatoes. For now, I can do tomatoes and cucumbers with no issues. Hopefully, practice makes perfect.
Potatoes are VERY easy to grow...plant them early, about 4 inches deep...pull looses soil around them when 8 inches tall to make a hill...then again after they grow another 8 inches. We love them...we only plant "kennebec's". They keep well and taste wonderful...! The traditional potato planting day is valentines day...but sometimes we have to wait until the ground is dry enough to till but plant as soon as possible after feb 14.

Hi. The only potatoes that grow for me are in the compost pile and even then they don't produce much. Have tried growing them in 3ft high round wire. Get a lot of green but no potatoes. I think sunlight is a huge factor. I get very little of it where I live.

Yes...you definitely need full sun or almost full. We have grown some very nice potatoes in wire baskets (as a test project) lined with landscape cloth but mostly grow in the garden spot.

I have Light sussex if you are interested I am in Dallas Ga
Chicks, birds, or hatching eggs?

Awww! Mine are on day 17!

These are barnyard mix.
Hens are RIR, Comet and maybe a Speckled Sussex (really can't tell if she's laying yet)
Roos are Olive Egger (BCM over Ameraucana), Blue Am, RIR, or Swedish Flower.

The black babies are interesting. Evidently the Blue AM roo is getting to a couple of the hens :)
There are some really fun colors. 1 is even white with black spots.

Do y'all realize it's less than 30 days until time to plant potatoes (valentines day)!!!!! just saying....
Woohoo!!

Howdy and welcome to the madness.
