Yea for chicks!

I didn't get to go to camp! Boo! Can't even get out of my driveway much less travel 2 hours NW thru old country roads!

My DD lives in VA right outside of DC. She face timed me and OMG, the snow is already over knee high and it is suppose to snow all day today. They are saying her area will get about 30" of snow all total. She can't see the chairs on her patio and she can't get out the front door because the glass outer door opens out. Her backdoor and down to her garage has snow drifts already about 2 feet deep. It's crazy. While face timing, the lady next door opened her garage door and let her big dog out to potty. The poor dog got lost in the snow and had to hop up and down thru it! It was funny to see.

Ugh, I have to go and get my chickens some warm water now. I'm sure their water is frozen like its been recently in the AM.

And, hello Debs! I remember you because you are from the middle of nowhere!

YAY! Are those your MFD chicks? Either way, they sure are cute!!

Got my hatching eggs safe and sound yesterday and every one of them looks good so far!
Only issue... I kicked on my incubator and it doesn't seem to be working! Much less consistent than the first time I used it, it seems to be either heating way too hot or not nearly hot enough!! The last time I used it was really inconsistent too, but I blamed that on it being in a room with lots of windows... Guess not. D:

Any suggestions on a cheap easy to get incubator that works? I was looking at the little Giant still air from tractor supply, but it has really mixed reviews! Any help/knowledge would be appreciated!

Yes! They are my MFD. glad your eggs look good but I know how it feels to not trust your bator.. I don't personally recommend the LG, however once they changed to the newer style it was an improvement. I had ONE run of really good luck with mine and that was late winter one year. I guess the temp/humidity outside was just stable enough to help it maintain in the house. After that it went wonky again and hubby got sick of all the wasted eggs.

My boys love ole Tubby. They feed him grass out of there hand and he just fallows them around the yard. He's kinda like a yard ornament. If he's in the way u just pick him up and move him and he don't care either way. My oldest son said he's just like a dog. I've never seen a chicken like that.
Glad they like him. He has been like that since he hatched. He may change when he gets older and becomes a man. LOL They mature slower than other breeds I have had. Is he crowing yet? The Buff has started practice crowing and it is LOUD!

I got the Tractor Supply version of the LG. The Farm Innovators. For me the big thing was the solid plastic cover. My oldest can't help picking at styrofoam (like a chicken).
Had 50% success for my first ever hatch, and I know a few things I did wrong, such as opening during hatching. Lost a lot that had pipped.

Hi everyone! RoboDuck invited me over here so I figured I would introduce myself. I think I have posted to this page before a long time ago when I first joined, but oh well it can't hurt to start again. I'm Debra and I raise and sell heritage and show chickens. Ive been raising chickens for almost 6 years now and my poultry business is supporting me through college (yay!). I have around 140ish birds at any given time, such as but not limited to, cream legbars, mottled Javas, marans, silkies, bantam and large fowl cochins, mallard ducks, lemon cuckoo orpingtons and a few others too. We also raise registered nubian goats and are the proud owners of 4 awesome livestock dogs and one very spoiled golden retriever. So thats me! Here's a link to our poultry page on Facebook if you would like to check it out :) www.facebook.com/HeritageandFancyFowl

Where in Georgia are you? Or I might have to add my order to the one PapaChaz eventually makes :)

I'm looking for Marans, Crested Cream Legbars and Speckled Sussex.
