YO GEORGIANS! :)

YAY! I'm so happy she's OK. :)
What was your final hatch count and % this round?
Well.. Hatch was 100% as far as lockdown-to-hatch. Fertility sucks for the Brahmas right now- latest count is <50% for sure but so low I haven't actually calculated it. MFD aren't laying a WHOLE lot yet but have picked up and are pretty darn fertile but again I haven't started officially tracking yet. But they're worlds better than the Brahmas!

Edit: and the count, 2 Brahmas and four MFD. It was a very small hatch. :)

Not bad at all!

Only 8 days until my shipped Brown Leghorn eggs are due to hatch!! Of the 13 set, 12 are still going strong! :clap

That's incredible! My shipped eggs are on day 10 and so far I've pulled 5 clears and 4 quitters, so I've got only 6 eggs left and of those only 1 I'm 100% sure is alive (saw him rolling around and kicking in the egg!) I REALLY need a better incubator! Or more experience. I wonder if I can talk my BF into letting me have more eggs for "practice"... Hmmmm...

So that weird egg is definitely looking like its no good.

The dark patch spread, and while I can still see the embryo, there's no more veins and it's still the same size as last candle. :(
I went ahead and pulled it this morning. On the plus side, one of the eggs I thought was clear is suddenly full of a big shadow! YAY! Final count in the bater for today is 6 shipped, and 4 local that I can't see a thing in they're so thick/dark.

It may not be your incubator it could be shipping. I had eggs shipped once and filled up my bator and will never get shipped eggs again, I'm sure some of it was me,the bator (it was new and not used to it) and the shipping. But I do love my Brinsea, getting ready to fire it up, haven't used it since having the heat repaired in it.

Crack it and see what was up!

I've never done that. How does that work?
You just crack it.. I usually do it on a white or non-patterned plate so I can see detail..

I just like to see stuff I guess. Couldn't throw out a strange candling egg without cracking it.

But if you think it might be stinky, do it outside. Or you can seal it in a ziplock bag and that works too. :)

So it wasn't stinky at all! I'm surprised because that's totally what I was expecting.

The yolk is a mess. Not solid at all, the embryo is adhered to the side of the egg I think, and the dark splotch was a mess of blood, no vessels though that I can see.
Bacteria infection maybe?
I can post pics if people aren't opposed.
