Well, I think it finally happened! My DH must be catching Chickenitis! We were at the local feed store and I bought 6 chicks with him watching and he didn't say anything!!!! And then, get this! We are in TS and he comes out and shows me something he bought for the chickens! It was one of those chicken swings!!!! And when we got home with it, he went straight to the run and hung it up without even going in the house first!!!! OMG!!!! And THEN, I am looking at hatching eggs on ebay and I show him some Marans eggs that I would love to have and he says, Bid on them! Am I dreaming? No, he put the bid in himself and won! Here are what the eggs look like! So excited!

Love it! And guess that is proof that it's contagious!


We spent the afternoon enlarging the new pen. Everyone is happy, and almost all are getting along. Still some pecking order, but nothing major.

Umm, when we won the Marans eggs, the ad said free shipping. After we paid for the eggs, the man wrote us and said the shipping was another $25! We told him the ad said free shipping! He said he posted on the description about the shipping cost....well, anyway, we decided to split the shipping costs. AND, after talking (and laughing his *** off) with DH, he said he was going to add some surprise eggs in there to make up for the misunderstanding. And, guess what other type of chickens he has.....Pumpkin Helseys! Those will be fun to hatch! Never had a PH! They will be shipped Monday!

Woohoooo we got in Crested Ducks, Cayuga's, Blue/Fawn Runners and what appears to be an Ancona or something similar today. Grabbed a Cayuga finally and can someone confirm or deny the Ancona?

So cute I can't wait to see how they grow.

Well, now I wonder..Seems they are game fowl used in fighting. I don't want fighting birds. Definitely will sell whatever hatches. Not even sure that is the surprise eggs he will send....We will see.

You talking about Pumpkin Hulsey? The game chickens? They may be game and even though I am not into game my dad is. (No he doesn't fight them) He asked me to find him a grey rooster. I never knew game chickens cost so much. I saw 6 hatching eggs go for $300! The better looking your breeders are in the pics, the more people pay for their eggs. Looks seems to be the only selling point when it comes to game.
