YO GEORGIANS! :)

well, the kids seem to like their new feeder

and my last project for the day was to put a rabbit feeder through the wall of my inside brooder. I'm going to do this on my other brooders as well, fill from outside, so much easier!

food and water on the opposite end of the heat lamp. I turned to the incubator and told em "I'm ready for ya"

She (hopefully she..) is a Bantam. I'm a newbie to the chicken world, but isn't that when the sex is determined by color (in certain breeds)?
yes to the question, that's pretty much what it means boys and girls hatch out different colors, or with different stripes, etc.

But...... when you say bantam, you're really pretty much talking about the size of the chicken, bantams being smaller than others. Nothing to do with 'breed' per se, because there are 'bantams' in just about every recognized breed, it just means they're smaller :)

oh, and welcome aboard!

Hi all! Busy busy day! All family here. Big dinner with additional neighbors, then bon fire and samores! Chicks are still hatching! Mostly all Naked Necks!

I have a question. One of the babies was born with a leg joint that is immobile. It's like it has no rotary function in it. So, it can't straighten it's leg at all. It cries when I try to stretch it out. What should I do with it? Anybody have this problem before? Other than culling it, can I amputate the leg and let it grow up with just one leg? I believe it is a girl.

Then a family who usually buys chicks from me drives up with 7 dozen eggs he wants me to hatch for him! Didn't even call ahead. Like over a month ago, I told him I would hatch eggs for him, but didn't hear from him until today. I don't have room for them. 3 dozen are turkey eggs. I've never hatched turkey eggs. Carcar/GAM, do you want to hatch these for me? I had already promised another girl I would hatch her eggs next week! HELP! And because we had just started to eat our dinner, Randy came out and hurried everything and I don't remember what the agreement was!!! But, if any of you who have large cabinets would take them and hatch them, I will give you some of my hatching eggs to hatch and sell. Let me know!

I would say yes but I am expecting a phone call any day from a guy that wants me to hatch upwards of 10 dozen pheasant eggs. I am double-checking the available space in the cabinet tonight and can let you know. If you really can't find anywhere else, I can get another styrofoam up and running. Let me know. (I may even have more than one that I can get going.)

Looks like everyone had a work day and so did I.
My hoop coop pasture tractor. I'll probably use it to start moving all the chicks to when they start coming out of the brooder. If this works like I think it will for 9 hens and a rooster I'll build 4-5 of these.
Still like about 2 days to finish this one. I'll post the finished pictures when I get it on the pasture.

Then I have no idea what they are. I have that one and a tiny white one, then four Silkies

Happy Palm Sunday Ya'll! Hoping everyone has a wonderful day! Looking forward to being able to half-rest before the week starts again. Still have some chores left after church to finish up though...

So: I'm looking for 1-2 older ducks to give my drake. around 5 months to a year would be ideal. Really don't care on breed, just no runners.... anyone have some?
