I forgot to tell you! I got a newbie laying! A BCM laid the one on the top. 20 eggs today!

What a beautiful collection of eggs!

I need some suggestions. To those of you who keep your eggs out on the counter. What do you put them in? Just a normal bowl? An egg skelter? The basket we keep them in is about to be replaced for something larger and simpler to use. Thought i'd reach out for ideas.

we just use a carton for the ones we keep out of the frig, but you might consider a colander as it would allow some airflow through

I had another egg broken and half eaten today. This time it was in the nest. A white egg this time, last time it was a green one that had been laid in the poop tray. Gonna have to start staying down there most of the day to see if I can catch the culprit. They have oyster shell, so I know it's not an issue of wanting more calcium. I've never fed them egg shells anyway. I did recently switch back to 16% feed from the 22%

I just keep mine in a carton. I date them, and when a carton is full, I put it in the fridge and use them oldest to freshest. Right now I have about five dozen in there.

Sometimes you can look at the faces really well and see dried yolk or yellow discoloration depending on the color of the bird. Especially with all your bearded beauties, it might be easy.

Ok, so do you have a sissy rooster with a gender identification crisis sitting on eggs or a hen with a hormonal disorder who may have gotten into some testosterone?

If I know you, you snuck in some of that special rooster booster.

Oh BTW how are your turkey's doing? I have one that is really a curious george or georgette, can't tell yet.

You mean like this "No mom, I didn't eat the chocolate" kid? haha.....but only one of the girls in that pen has a beard, the olive egger. AND this didn't start happening until she started laying. The first one was a green egg that she laid in the poop tray. Yesterday was the first one eaten that was actually in the nest
