Anyone have a suggestion to any hatcheries that they've ordered chicks from before....Georgia or anywhere else...can't make my mind up where to get them from?

Remind me where you live? I have been agonizing over where to get my hatching eggs. I had ordered from McMurray and felt good about it. Then I got kind of annoyed that a breed that was listed as a possibility in my mix wasn't even carried by them anymore. I hear that shipped eggs don't have the hatch rate that locally sourced might. I live in Macon, and have found a couple of places nearby just by asking around. I think it depends on what you want in your flock. I have to confirm with a guy who hatches Polish nearby, but once that is in place for my planned hatch, I'll probably ditch the McMurray order. I just feel better about not dealing with the post office on my "babies". Good luck!!!!

I've personally never ordered chicks but know plenty here have. But for a local alternative check with Morning Glory Farm here in Rockmart (may be a Cedartown address).. She should be hatching soon and usually has a nice variety.

Anyone have a rooster in the Atlanta area (north/west ideally) that needs a home. We ideally are looking for a Rhode Island Red, Black Australorp or White Leghorn (although a Maran would suffice as well). Time to start hatching eggs in a few weeks.

I have two polish hens in a mixed flock, but they're not laying right this second. Once they start back up I can save you some! the babies wouldn't be pure, but they would be ADORABLE.
