YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hey all. I haven't been on in awhile and just found this post. So did anyone go to the poultry show in newnan the other week?
What kind are you looking at to show? and welcome I know where you are, I think
Hatch started this morning instead of tonight and OF COURSE I'm stuck at work again! Dang babies, always plotting against me. We locked down on 28 eggs, had two out before I left today and 4 pips. I've got high hopes for this hatch!
well how many babies?

I have a couple d uccles but their not show quality but I dont know what kind I would like to show. I just know I would prefer bantams. And im about a hour south of you.

I love bantams, I need to get my Nankins back, let a friend talk me out of them and have regretted it ever since, I thought that's where you were was there this past Sat trading birds, lol
we have a get together coming in May so keep (I think it will be either the 13th or the 20th) your weekend open, :)

I went and I believe there were several others who also went.
It was a good show; about 1500 birds in the show and lots of birds in the swap even though the weather was rainy on Saturday.

I'm curious about how you guys name your chickens.
Is there a theme or special way that you go about naming your chickens?
For me, I give all my roosters "people" names. For instance, I have Eugene; he's my retiring Welsummer. His replacement is Stephon.
My Welbar rooster is "Skeeter-Wayne"; which is a very southern people name for those of you who have drifted to the south from some other place.
I don't normally name the hens; I guess there are more of them and I couldn't remember all the names.

Hello everyone. I'm back from Texas safe and sound.....although, I'm tired. Saw my mom and 4 sisters and a niece! We had great fun talking about when we were young. But, even though my sister lives in a small town, and she took us on a tour around town, I didn't see one chicken or coop or anything! I mean this is a really really rural town! I don't think I would ever be happy living without chickens!

Hey Gunner86, I went to the Poultry show in Newnan, too. Got hatching eggs and 3 Swedish Flowers chicks. I let the lady grab 3 out of the bin, and of course, it looks like I got 2 roos and 1 hen....only 10 days old, so just guessing, but it seems really obvious to me!

Got 13 eggs left under 2 broodies. They are due Wednesday. Won't be surprised if they start hatching out tomorrow!

I have 85 eggs left in the incubators. They are due March 12th. Lady Who, 2 from your LU - light brahmas weren't fertile. The others look good! The little bantam cochin you got from that guy is fertile, too! If it hatches, it just might show up at your coop one day!

I don't think the hookbill duck egg from the show is growing. I'm gonna recheck it in a few days.

Well, once again, no good deed goes unpunished. I had a guy call and want me to hold the Blue Partridge Brahma roo I had listed on Craigslist for next week. So I took it off the listing. He called me today and said they decided to hatch their own BPB eggs and so they didn't want the rooster......#@%^! So, I will be relisting him! Anyone interested?

Well, since I just got back in town, and the renters just left this morning.......I have tons to do!

Oh yeah, I would like a t-shirt or two. Queensboro does all our shirts if you don't have anyone to make them for you.
