YO GEORGIANS! :)

I wish folks would just read the actual order and be settled about it, not say what they were *told* by whomever answered the phone when they called. Me, I think it wise to not call. The memo is sufficient the way its written. The memo only stated a hold on sales of poultry at swaps, auctions and flea market sales, basically anywhere off-property where birds gather from different sources. Hatching eggs are not affected since AI is not passed through the egg. Farm to farm sales are not specifically restricted, though biosecurity is highly encouraged, no different than my own, all-the-time recommendations. I don't buy, sell or otherwise at any of those venues. I don't even go to shows. I don't visit folks who have chickens, either, generally. I think the last time I did was when I went to Kentucky years ago to visit my friend Ladyhawk (Cetawin on BYC). We get special shoes to wear at each others' homes when we do that, though I've only been to hers once and she's visited us several times.

Soon, it will blow over. It always does. Hopefully, it won't lead to restrictions placed on backyard flock owners on an everyday basis. I still want to eat eggs from my own birds, my own healthy, well-fed birds and I will, restrictions or not, unless I just get tired of the chores and decide to quit for other reasons.

Hey fellow Ga folks,

How bad are weasels here? Any big issues. I'm now focusing on making my fortress weasel proof too but I just wanted to check with y'all on how frequent of an issue they are for our area.

I know it may vary by your region, I'm sure. I'm in Henry county, Stockbridge.

I'm in peach county. No weasels. Hawks, possums, racoons, snakes, and stray dogs have been problems for me.

mm maybe I can go with my original plan of just worrying about every other predator (except bears) =) I have locks in place for a two legged. I almost wonder if I should get some type of alarm but I don't know if those exist. I don't think that anyone in my neighborhood would do such a thing BUT I've only been here a month so who knows.

now now, you know you can't just go throwing logical explanations and opinions around like that, some won't receive them well at ALL!!!

I once lived in Henry County; there are more weasels there than anywhere I ever lived. You'll find them in and around the courthouse and other government
buildings, as well as the lawyer's offices. I have known weasels to be in Stockbridge, McDonough; well almost everywhere up there..........hold it a minute, are
we talking about cute little four legged animals cause I thought you were asking about the two-legged varmits????????????
