YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hey all! My babies are now a week old and are doing great! My Chocolate Orp Bantam hen is doing a great time raising her first brood!

Your bantam is so cute! Congrats!
(My fat Bantam never gets broody)

Two big things happened today.

1) Robojr turned 17 (how the heck did that happen???)
2) Mare #2 FINALLY dropped her foal.  Gorgeous little filly.

Congrats....
I forget sometimes I'm the youngest on here XD (I'm like 19)

Okay, folks! I'm just chiming in to say that I'm getting psyched up for my first hatch! Lockdown is in the early morning and then the waiting game begins! Thank you to everyone who has kept me going or PM'd me or given advice on other threads! Set 18, and have 15 good ones in the little Maxi. They are: 7 Crele Polish, 3 Silver Laced Polish, 2 Gold Lace Polish bantams, 1 White Crested Black Polish bantam, 1 Cream Legbar and 1 Isbar.

because everyone hatches on top of their antique sideboard, right?!?

Now I'm just saying my chicken prayers!!!

Yay! Can't wait to see how your incubator works! I have the mini but only use it as an infirmary/emergency bator. Whenever I hatch eggs in the big one, if one needs help or looks weak, I put it over into the mini so it won't have all the others dancing all over it!

Can't wait to see all your chicks! Have fun!

She is already up better on her legs than she was in this picture. I'll get a height on her tomorrow. The colt we had drop in February was 23" at the wither on day 3.

So so cute!!! And, congrats on your son turning 17! I'm like Speckedhen......my oldest will be 40 in Sept! Where does the time go!!!!

Thank you!! I'm really excited. My only notes on the Maxi so far are: The little slots inside the regular size chicken egg slots are just a shade too small for bantam eggs. They intermittently turn the eggs but not reliably. (I'm sure it's why it is called a 14 egg incubator, but the Brinsea guy told me it was ok to load it up) The other is that I wish there was a built in hygrometer. I feel like the digital display could handle it. That said, and just a matter of science (lol), my hygrometer charts it as staying at about 40% give or take a few points over the first 18 days. Tonight I will fill both wells and put in the hatching mat for the babies. I can hardly contain my excitement!!!

That is SUCH a good idea about using the mini as a rescue bator! I am definitely filing that idea away! I will likely bore you all with updates, but that's why we're here, right?!?!

My Runner Ducks will go into lockdown on Tuesday and should hatch Friday! Baby ducks are so cute! I will raise them for at least a month. That's when the girls will start quacking....and the boys keep peeping! I will either keep 1 male and 4 more females, or sale all I have now and keep all the new ones. But! How can I sell my old pets??? That seems so mean.

oh yea, it's going to be bad tomorrow. They are coming to install our new whole house generator and remove the old one. That means the electricity will be turned off for several hours. We borrowed a small generator to keep the incubator going. Hope it won't mess things up this close to hatch time!
