I hatched a really cute yellow and black chick with yellow feathered legs. I wasn't here when it hatched so I didn't know which egg it came out of, BUT, now I realize it was one of my Mottled Orpington eggs! So it will look like a Mottled Orpington with feathered legs! Wow!
 
5 out this morning, and 14 pipped!
1 tiny hen egg from Lady Who, and 4 of mine are the ones who have hatched! As per usual, the littlest eggs are leading the charge! How about everyone else?
 
I have one more to hatch.... that will make 30 out of 38. (Around 80%) Most of the ones that didn't hatch were from my friends CCL! I had 10 eggs to start and only 2 hatched...,.both boys! Bummer! I candled the others and they look wild....clear on one side and dark on the other. Not top to bottom as you would think, but side to side. weird. He had the same problem and just sold the rooster. He has two other cockerels he is raising up so he hopes he will have better luck with them.
 
So, finished the goat house. (Except painting the back! Not a priority! HA!) The goats are starting to bond with us....especially when I bring them some sassafras limbs! Or they see us with a brush! They love both!

Just candled the egg I was waiting on. It died. Pipped internally but not externally. I opened it and it was a crossbeak. No wonder it couldn't make it out. I guess it was for the best. They only live about 4-6 months and that is with special care. :(

The second egg had hatched before I left for work, too! The BO egg was infertile, but the LO made it to lock down! No pip yet, but it's still early!

Before I left for work I was at 8 hatched and 15 pips!
