Sometimes I just feel done with all this. A dog ripped into the welded wire I had on my turkey tractor and tore apart my turkeys. All four of them, including Georgie, who I am very attached to and was very attached to me. Killed them all and then moved on to try to kill a chicken I have penned up next to the house. My husband heard the chicken fussing, checked, and shot at the dog. He said it took off, so I'm not sure if he missed. It looks like it also tried to get into my silkie pen but failed. I wish I could actually hear things that are going on out in the yard. I don't hear anything in the house. Damn dogs.

For what it's worth, I build my tractors from cattle panels covered with chicken wire. Only problem I've had has been possums getting in were I didn't cover the entire tractor. I though I wouldn't need the wire where the tarp was covering it. Needless to say, I'me going back and finishing the job now.
 
Thanks you all. :) I'm going to try turkeys again in the spring. We're putting up a big electric fence in the back and I'll reinforce the tractor and put it in there. We're also getting a young donkey to raise with our animals and be a pasture guard. She lives with cattle now and her parents are pasture guards. Haven't seen that dog anywhere but we did find a small amount of blood so my husband grazed it. Hopefully it won't come back.

That's an awesome idea. They do get poopy!!! Of course it's so hot now that mine don't need the plate at all!

All the birds have been sold except for the four Ayam Cemani chicks (the lamb linguine of poultry :lol:). They are super healthy and doing great. At this point we just want to move them and concentrate on our move, so the first $80 takes all four. You won't find a deal like that anywhere. PM if interested.

Also, still have (4) 42"L x 27"W x 30"H extra-large dog cages left @ $40 each.

Thanks, but not right now. I'm going to wait a little bit before I do chicks again.

In the meantime, I got Brienne the donkey to acclimate to me and halter break. :)
