I've read a lot of about feeding yogurt, expired yogurt etc. Can anyone clarify? Expired slightly - yes or no? Activia any flavor - yes or no? Any fruit added - yes or no? Greek yogurt - yes or no?

Also when talking about mixing oatmeal with yogurt, is the oatmeal cooked first or not?

I read no apple seeds but is chopped apple or applesauce ok?

My chicks are 5 days old. Gave them a couple of chopped mealworms and they loved them!!

Thanks in advance for any help on this topic!

Hi 4 MimisPeeps,
expired yoghurt would be fine if it smells and looks all right. Don't give them anything discolored or with mould growing on it, or that smells bad.

Plain yoghurt is the one to give (not fruity or sweet). Doesn't much matter if it's Greek or some other sort as long as it's plain.

Grated apple would probably be okay; applesauce is probably not that useful. Grated apple in yoghurt can sometimes help a case of coccidiosis. I think cooked apple may have lost many of its vitamins and other useful elements so raw is probably the way to go.

hope this helps, good luck with the chicks,
Erica
