Yogurt, can I feed them my raspberry yogurt or does it have to be plain

Every great once in awhile, the flavored yogurt won't hurt them in small amounts. The problem with flavored yogurts is that they are usually full of sugar and/or artificial sweeteners. Not good for chickens, particularly young chicks.

Many of use do feed yogurt to our chickens. The interesting thing is that poultry have no history of eating milk products and therefore cannot digest all milk products. The issue seems to be the milk sugar not the milk protein. So apparently fermented type products that use up the milk sugar ( lactose) makes the yogurt ok to feed.

Cane sugar is not good for our birds and . . . .it makes me wonder if it's good for us humans either.

I'll take pure, unadulterated cane sugar over the artificial sweeteners created in a laboratory any day.

But you're right. Sugar is not good for chickens.
