I'e been googling and searching on here wether or not a yogurt maker could possibly be used as a incubator and am having no luck. There are a few posts a few years old on here with no updates so I thought i would start a new thread. Has anyone successfully used a yogurt maker to incubate eggs. I'e read they are desined to hold a temp between 100-115 and a egg needs to be at 99.5. If you habe tried it, how did you cool it or allow heat to escape? What about the humidity aspect? I' just curious if it could work. Or even a temp controlled slow cooker? Any thoughts?

I did read that too. I am jyst shocked that incubators cost what they do. So I've been trying to figure out something until I can afford one. But of course I have cabin fever and need some kind of project right now. Im going to plug both my slow cooker and yogurt maker in and see what they hold at. I'l keep updating but still hoping someone can chime in as i have no idea what I'm doing yet haha

other gal used a egg carton to keep them elevated maybe the slow cooker? if you can is there a plastic or glass lid for your slow cooker

the one im thinking about has a glass lid, but has a small hole in it for a meat probe that you can set a desired temp for. im not sure how low it goes or if that works. but i have maybe 15 slow cookers probably. maybe we could alter one. i dont know, my brain is going a mile a mintue right now trying to figure this out. the hubby just asked about a dehydrator too. using the motor part of our in a bucket possibly.
im just going to have to keep googling homemade incubators and see what i come up with i guess. if all else fails and im still too cheap to buy one new, maybe we will have to just buy a styrofoam cooler and make one with the plans on here.
