Yolk not absorbed...need tips please!

You can drop some of that energy stuff (electrolytes??? I think) in his beak and he'll get enough energy to get out of that goop himself.
I'm not sure. Someone help me out here

I helped a chick out who had partially zipped. Another chick had fully zipped and got very stuck...i think low humidity. Anyways got this little one free but his tummy is still very big. What is the best thing to do? I put him back in incubator with the other late hatcher who needed help but big tummy chick is in a bowl. View attachment 2686971
It most likely absorbed it's yolk sack that was extra large. This happens, & it's normal. I've seen this with my chicks.

He is dried up. He is stiff with the goo that has dried on him... I will leave him in the incubator overnight in the bowl with the other one and hope for the best. :fl

He has been in the bator the entire time, other than when i took him out quick to check on him.
I had a chick with goo, it turned out to be lingering Egg White that failed to disappear before hatching.
Also the chick I hatched had a mild case of Mushy Chick Disease, she survived, but her immune system was compromised, & died of a severe case of Aspergillus 5 weeks later.

Once the egg white is dry it can be gently picked off in flakes, or rubbed off with a paper towel.

Egg white still in shell.

Well, this little one is doing better this morning. Its wants to go, but its tummy is still enlarged. Should i keep it in the bowl or let him move around a little? Seems to have his feet under him...

If the chick is on its feet and there's nothing unhealed in the navel that might attract another chick's attention, I'd let it walk around. With chicks that are crusty at hatch, the cause can be failure to lose enough moisture during incubation...and that may also explain the belly looking enlarged, too.

ETA: when the chick is stronger, you can give it a gentle bath in just-warm water to try to get the gunk off. It likely won't fluff properly until then, so it'll be important to ensure it stays warm when moved to the brooder.

Best wishes for your chick!

This little thing is putting me through all the paces!! Pasty butt, so it got a warm bum bath followed by a monster poop. I'm thinking it might have splayed legs a bit, its really wobbly still but is starting to try to run around. Should i try to correct at this point or wait to see if it gets stronger.
