yolk not all the way absorbed what do i do???

i posted this in incubation section to but hopfullly people here can help me more, chicks alive, moving, chirping, looks great except for this. should i wrap the chick in somthing to keep it from moving or what do i do?

About all you can do is place it on a clean paper towel, and leave it in the incubator. I've had them just lie there and rest for a day, while the yolk absorbs and then be fine.

X2. They're usually fine, if you keep them clean & warm & quiet. The metabolism of the chick will take care of the yolk as the chick stretches, breathes & moves a little.
As long as there are no other developmental problems, the chick should catch up within a week.

Keep it isolated from any other chicks, who will want to eat the yolk or will step in it with dirty feet.

If you have any powdered sulfur (aka flowers of sulfur) around, you can sprinkle it (it's a stinky yellow powder) over the area. It's an antibiotic with some drying qualities & may help the sac to dry up and the area to heal w/ low risk of infection. My sister is a breeder & she uses it for raw navels as well, and it always works great. I've also had great success with using it on open wounds & on homemade stitches & it works for other animals as well. It's a little stinky, but it is a good dry topical treatment & you can't overdose them & they can ingest it w/o ill side effects. It's not sold as much as in the old days, but I have sometimes seen it in feed stores (check the horse supplies), health food stores, old-fashioned pharmacies, and online. Usually sold in containers of at least 8oz which is more than you'll probably need in a lifetime (though it will last that long), and usually sold cheap (It's so old no Rx company's got a patent to make money on it). I consider it a must for the home poultry medicine bag. Best thing I've ever seen in drying up raw chick navels.

I thought the yolk was absorbed through the navel. That looks like it'd coming out the vent. Am I mistaken?
