I asked a question on someone elses post with a similur question to what she was asking ~ but dont want to hog her thread so her question isnt answered correctly. Chick came out over 1/2 hour ago. There is still yolk in the egg, and cord was attached to it, but she broke free of it after 5 minutes or so of pulling. the cord is now attached to her, but not long. It does not appear to be bleeding. but she is exhausted and not as active as our 3 others after they hatched. Someone mentioned clamping the cord...but should I do this if its not bleeding? Also to clamp it I would have to open bator, which I want to anyways as there are 3 ready to come out, one been in there just about 24 hours. Will opening it to exam the one with cord and take the other 3 hurt the ones that are piping, even if we work very quickly? There is still lots of water in there, and sponge is damp, temp good. Any help would be great. Thanks. Ps if I clamp what do I clamp with?? I still have 26 eggs left to hatch and if #4 is having problems, Im sure I have more to learn as the others hatch.
