my Welsumer hen lays tiny (1 1/4 inch) yolkless eggs. What is wrong with her? Will she outgrow this. So far laid 8 same size yolkless eggs.

Is she a just startign to lay??? If so it is perfectly normal.. They are called "fart" or " wind "eggs and it is her bodie getting in to egg production.. It is normal

If you have a recipe that calls for egg whites only, you'll love those eggs.

And they are so healthful.

Am much more at ease now and will give her time to adjust to her body's needs, I bought her in late fall and she's just now starting to lay.
Her flock mates are two mixed hens and six black star given to me as two year olds, four red sex links bought last spring and all these are survivors of a dog massacre last summer. Two dogs got into the garden and made their way into the hen area. My neighbor drove them off and I came home one hour later to more than a dozen bodies and some near death chickens who did not survive! Needless to say I did not get any eggs for several weeks after. My Welsumer rooster missed tailfeathers and had some injuries but survived. I've had my share of predators giving me grief but I hang in there and learn each time. The highlight of my day is visiting my little flock and collecting eggs. God is good!
