Why are my yolks breaking as soon as I open the egg my chicken are 9 months old and I feed them very well they get a vast assortment of feed ie. Hi omega, 44% protein supplement ,a poultry premix, oats ,scratch ,lcc ,wild bird seed, oyster shells , a organic wormer, crack corn , and layer base pellet and crumble??

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! How long have your girls been laying? Sometimes when they first start laying it can take a while for them to get there laying machines in full working order and start getting everything right. Drop the egg laying section of the forum for more help https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/18/chicken-behaviors-and-egglaying

Wishing you the very best of luck and hope you enjoy BYC, I am sure you will everyone here to help and very friendly. Enjoy all the chicken chat :frow

They have been laying for about 4 months it's very frustrating to open a egg that the yolk is already broken when one loves eggs over easy and thank you for the feedback I'm hoping to solve this problem

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Most of the egg quality charts list causes for a weak vitelline membrane as: age of eggs (older more likely to break), improper storage temperature (high), age of hens http://ufdc.ufl.edu//IR00004262/00001 ... (and indirect effect of poor shell quality and nicarbizin, a coccidia medication)

Glad to have you join! Feel free to make yourself at home!

Maybe it's too many addictives? Could you try feeding just good quality layer feed for awhile and see if things improve? Is one hen laying these or all of them having the same problem?
