We only have one girl who's laying right now, and the last 5 eggs I had from her had 2 with really dark orange yolks, and 3 with paler orange yolks. I'm not 100% certain which order they were laid in, but I had a feeling that there was at least 1 pale one laid either side of the darker ones.

Am I delusional, or can the yolks really change from day to day with the same chook on the same diet?

Is it really the same diet? Did she get more bugs or eat more grass on some days?

I keep saying the barometric pressure affects chicken behavior (feeding) which effects egg yolk color...

testing would be a devil to do so I haven't found enough helpers.

We are getting storms EOD at the moment- I bet from yolk color (and or shell color) I can tell the days they were laid (the egg made during the change is usally the light one often the 'next day's egg - after a storm)
