Hi y'all,
I have 2 1 month old chicks with swollen eyes. Their eyeballs are fine, but the skin around them is swollen up on one side and not the other. Any ideas what this could be? I heard swelling was a sign of Avian flu, but its been a couple of days and they still seem healthy, eating, drinking ect. Photo to come.

Are they only with other chicks their age or could an older chicken have pecked them? Can you open the eyes and look for any bubbles or foam in the eyes? Do you have any pictures? It could be from a respiratory infection or disease, such as mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG.) Have you ever dealt with a respiratory disease in the flock? Did these babies come from a breeder? I would think about getting some Tylosin powder and treat them for MG 1 tsp per gallon of water for 5 days. Clean their eyes with saline and apply a small amount of Terramycin eye ointment or Neosporin ointment into the eye twice a day. Here is where to get medicines:
