What is a Yooper? We are an especially hardy breed living in the Upper Penninsula (UP) of Michigan. Requirements to live here include a love of our two seasons, shoveling and swatting. One must also embrace the fact that malls are for cities and the nearest big city is Green Bay, WI (Go Pack Go) which is not that big. The State bird is a robin, but in the UP it is the black fly. Lk. In the UP we love the Packers, rue the Lions and are fiercely supportive of local HS sports. Everyone has a husky (thank you Mich Tech). Superior is 900 ft deep, snow can easily get to 300 in a year, and there is every type of chicken stealing critter just waiting for a free meal. (Nice segue, eh?) Because the UP population is not that great we sometimes adopt folks from Northern lower Michigan, aka trolls, and those loving happy Wisconsonites along the boarder.
I would love to share chicken stories and gain some knowledge about how best to care for a flock in a 2 season paradise. Peace and love from da UP

Hello from Norway. South Central on the Cheesehead border (Pembine). I will be looking for 4 female Cayuga. I would settle for Khaki's.
I need to finish the run and fencing. Maybe late April (?).

Welcome! I have never heard of that breed. I would love to see pics. Do you have any now?

Nope, nope, nope. Plans changed again lol. I now have 12 Khaki's coming from Southern Wisconsin on June 1st through a local feed store. But, I want some laying Welshies, or Khaki's now.
If anyone in the U.P. has some adult Hens, I'm quite interested.
