Hah! I had no idea why my friend would want a bunch of silkies along with my order of "real egg layers"--but after raising 6 for her I was overjoyed to hear that she didn't want them all after all...I'm hoping my 2 end up being a mating pair! I'm picking the biggest and the smallest to try it out...is there any truth to the idea that the ones with the bigger topknot are roos?

Everyone should own at least one Silkie. But, once you get them, you just can't have one.

He should be here Thursday! He is from Sunshine Silkies Flock.

And I like my silkies because they are GREAT pets with great personalities. And fun to cuddle.

And when they run they look hilarious with their little 'fro's bouncing.

Most don't roost so they sleep in piles on the floor! I'm sure some roost, though.

I don't know! Mine don't have really big fro's but one of mine did. She ran into a block of wood because she couldn't see LOL! So I picked her up and brought her into the tool shed and clipped back her 'fro and all is well now.

She sat still for me and everything and didn't protest.

OMG! Too funny!!!
I was perusing MPC's site and I just learned that they will send a mix of bearded and non-bearded. Is there anyone else I can go to so I can get all bearded ones or is it a hit and miss with all of them?

Buy me a rain-proof coop that will last through endless days of rain, a run that is completely shut off of rain, but not sun. . . As it is rare enough already . . . And sure, I could have a Silkie. But otherwise, that saying should be edited to "Everyone who is capable of owning a Silkie should atleast own one."

I'm not looking foreward to owning a tiny splat of mud.

No, I think feathered feet are warmer... maybe they cause problems with non feather footed chickens out of jealousy!
