I kind of like the non bearded. Their different. They don't have a large crest like the others do, actually they are quite small. But, I have one and I think she is kind of pretty. I am going to see if I can get a bit bigger crest on her offspring though. I am sure that you can get some that have larger crest, but hers is small.

She is still young, so she may get a little larger crest, but not much. But, she still has lots of maturing to do.

I'm so devastated because when I called the place that told me they would have 4 silkies for me this week, they said the order won't even be sent until April 19th.

I am so frustrated! I know I should have patience, but I am addicted to chickens, even though I only have 3 right now. I had my hopes up and now I have to wait even longer. Oh well, the best things in life are worth waiting for I suppose!

hehe What did it to me was someone saying they saw some at TSC. I just had to go and look, and since I had 9 day old chicks at home, what was a few more. 4 silkies and a polish came home with me

How will they do free ranging with those feathers on their feet? Do feathers collect stickers like fur does? I hope not or I may have to rehome them when they grow up

If they are basically yellow chicks with just a touch of grey on thier fuzzy butts are they going to be white?

Pet quality 'mistakes' roo jumped into another pen. These were pics when I listed them for sale on craiglist.

All ten of the ones I had available sold within 15 min.

No, the chicks with the big heads are not the roosters but are the ones with the vaulted sculls. Must of the time the ones with the bigger puff. But not all the time. Yellow chicks turn white.

Haircuts. Same way I make my teenage boys get them. A little bit of fighting and some bribery.

Although it seems to me, the better quality the bigger the poof! Pet quality usually have smaller poofs. If you're looking at chicks out of the same breeding pair, then the boys tend to be bigger and puffier...with streamers of feathers coming out of the back of the head poof. lol
