You do have to turn on the red light...

The big question is how do I get that song out of my head.....

No I mean .. Why are they pecking at each other ? How many birds? How big of a coop?

As @aart says red light doesn’t register as daylight to birds ..
8 and my coop is small. Yes they are pecking at each other. My girl Garbage had her comb attacked. Not sure who the bully is but it was a pretty nasty wound. I checked it yesterday and it is healing.

Ok ....as long as you know that it’s like piling 6 kids into one room and wondering why they won’t stop fighting /hurting each other ...

We all need our space to succeed ,
Good luck

Im very aware. I let them out at sunrise every morning. They only go in the coop to sleep and lay. Ive heard this song and dance before. Its getting quite old. Rome wasnt built in a day and neither will my coop extension.

That is...unless you wanna build it...

Sorry, I don't think so.
...was put off by the '24 hours of light' and totally lost it at red contact lenses for chickens in the linked article.

Will stick with this, for now, tho a link to a vet article is now missing from that webpage.
Here's a pretty good article on supplemental lighting.

It should be noted that article says nothing about the color of the light. If you find one that does id be interested to read it. My research shows red light is fine.

I used to have one, the missing vet link talked about light color.
Think about it tho, we're trying to get as close to sunlight spectrum as possible.

Thanks for the ear-worm - now i will have that song playing in my head until I get home from work and can pull out the CD and play it.
It did make me smile though.

For pecking problems, i wonder if you had something for them to do in there if it would help. Hang a head of cabbage for them to peck at, or a whole sunflower. Yes, I am trying to avoid saying "chicken toys"...
