As far as rooster go to go in the freezer - how big do you want them? Since they are not the "meat bird" only type (which could be 8 weeks), you could around 4 - 6 months old but I would judge by their real size (pick them up and feel how heavy they are). Some tend to be more feathers than meat. We butchered our Speckled Sussex at 8 months old but our Golden Comets and Easter Eggers we did at 4 months old they were really small so we should have waited. What color silkies do you have? They have some cool looking feathers.
