I wasn't!!

I started with about 50 assorted bantams
They were mostly OE, cochin, japs, and rosecombs
I currently have about 100
Now they consist of all the ones I started with and I added RIR, Golden comet, black autralorps, Orpingtons (lavendar and Buff), assorted Leghorns, Jersey Giants, LF Cochins, Seramas, WF black spanish, Dorkings, Minorcas, Anconas, and some SL Wyandottes, and one Coronation Sussex. I think thats all. Oh yeah I have some Belgian Danvers and a pair of D'Uccles.
I think I have about 20 breeds.
It took me a year or so to get all of them. (Not all of them are grown)
As far as what I was thinking, well I started with one focus and then changed my mind.
I wanted some show chickens and due to the fact that there are literally no shows close to me I decided that I probably would not get to show. (After I got them of course)
So then I got so involved with my egg layers and how much fun I was having with them and keeping everyone I know supplied with eggs I decided to get serious about that instead. Not only that, also they are so good at keeping my barn a fly free zone that they earn their keep twice over.
I love them!!!!

1. How many chickens did you start with? Fourteen

2. What breed were they? Hatchery Dominiques, Salmon Faverolles, BLRWs, BOs, and Buff Brahmas

3. How many total chickens do you currently have? Counting the ones in the USPS right now, 25

4. How many breeds do you have now? Ten or eleven, depending on what breed Meyer is sending as the Meal Maker (it's like Christmas!)

5. How long did it take you to accumulate them? All of two months. I succumbed to Chicken Math really quickly.

6. And what in the world were you thinking?

First, "oh, a half-dozen should be fine." Then, "ooh, look at this breed! Ooh, how about some of those?" Then, "oh, I want some Speckled Sussex - hey! Another BYC member near me has some! Woohoo!" Then, "I have too many earth tones in this flock - I need to mix it up and throw some black and white in here."
