I have 7 buff orps and 4 australorps and 3 speckled sussex. They free range on their very own 1/4 acre. I try really hard to keep them happy and healthy but there are always issues.
Like I am only getting 1-2 eggs every other day. But a few were molting and one who's been broody for like almost 4 weeks now, sitting on unfertile wooden eggs. Mrs. Cuddlesworth drives me crazy, she's a nutty broody. She's in there constantly. She's the reason we have the australorps and speckled sussex. I snuck a few under and another broody. I guess she liked motherhood a little too much cause she was back in there soon after. I wish she was the type to mother her chicks for longer than normal. At least it'd keep her off the nest!!!
I see you have lots of horses, how nice! Wish we had the property for a horse (or two or three).
