Thought this would be an interesting topic. I always get a laugh out of some of the unusual saying people have in differents parts of the country(aspecially the south) and although we here in the midwest don't have any unusual quirks, we have some.

My number one would be you know you are in Michigan when people say they are going up North. I didn't really think about this till lately but everyone says it! Where are you going this weekend? I am going up North. I am from up North and etc. No one says where- just up North. This could mean anywhere from north of Grand Rapids to the U.P.

You know you are in Michigan when you can hold up your palm and point to where you live.

You know your are in Michigan when you are either a troll or a yooper!

You kinow you are in Michigan when the local paper has a lengthly article on what is the best type of snow shovel.

I could say more but I would love to hear yours now.

Oh ya and by the way I was born up North ha ha.

Great idea for a topic

Heres some more of the Michigan favs. I can't wait to read some of the southern ones.

Your year has 2 seasons: Winter and Construction.

Home Depot on any Saturday is busier than toy stores at Christmas.

You know when it has rained because of the smell of worms.

Your little league game was snowed out.

You've had to switch on the "heat" and the "A/C" in the same day.

At least 1 member of your family disowns you the week of the Michigan/Michigan State game.

We don't live in GA anymore, but what my dh and I noticed after living here for a while was they don't live in cities or towns, they live in counties. You ask someone where they live, they say _____ county.

You know you are a country boy when you are in a city, when you wave your 17 yr old step son into traffic by opening the door because your window don't roll down.
This happened to us a couple of weeks ago.

One thing I noticed is, it could have been yesterday; and my hubby will say the other day.

We too call the northern part of the state up north, like in Michigan, and the northerners talk about southern parts of the state and say down south.
