Maybe I should have named this thread, "You Know You are Crazy When.."

You sit outside with a fly swatter and kill flies to make fly and cottage cheese treat.

I was sitting outside and started killing flies then I thought hey that is a waste of good food. I started collecting them and putting them with the left over cottage cheese I was going to feed the chickens. My son came out and started watching me fly hunt. I thought to myself "Wow! I have really lost it."

Sadly having a witness to my shining moment and my self reflection did not stop me. I kept collecting. The chickens loved it.

I know I am not alone. Have you ever found yourself doing something crazy for your chickens. Please share.

When the chickens are so used to being allowed in my car to clean up spilled feed or dropped food that guests have to clear their cars of chickens before they can leave.

I just got home from a grocery shopping trip; amongst my purchases are bagged shredded lettuce, shredded cabbage "for coleslaw," two whole heads of cabbage and a watermelon JUST for the flock. I also got a couple of cantelope, the rinds of which will go to the flock, too. This is in addition to the bags of feed and the bag of BOSS (Black Oil Sunflower Seed) I bought on the way to the grocery.

The House Silkie and her chicks will get other treats: shredded cheese, chopped up hardboiled eggs, and a little bit of probably anything I eat. They already snack out of the dog food dishes and drink from the dogs' waterer.
