You get soaking wet during a storm when u cant find one of ur pullets search ur neighbours gardens come back soaked and shivering to find her snuggled in the run giving me a dirty glare

You ride out a Cat 4 hurricane because you are afraid your won’t be able to get back to them in time for feed and water. Then you run out while you are in the eye of the storm and rescue ten of them and put them in your bathroom to make sure they are safe. Hurricane Laura was a mean storm!!!

You wade out into a flood multiple times a day (twice in one season), to bring food and water and just check on how everyone's doing, as they're locked up in the coop for safety. I always fear I'll see a chicken floating downstream!

The key is making sure that my hair and arm are not brushing the fence and that the damp string ties are not touching my leg when I turn it back on.



For me it's more likely to be my evening Bible study.

I have two plastic lawn chairs in the run so that my DH or my 14yo can join me. The overturned chairs make good anti-hawk hiding places too.

Whew! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has a lawn chair in the run!

Looks like its going to be wandering out in the outer bands of Hurricane Sally for the next few days to feed the chicks. at least the rain is ensuring they have a steady supply of clean water.

just glad its not coming closer -well it is, but weaker - and hopeful its slow movement is giving those in low lying areas time to escape the oncoming drenching.
