The chickens prefer it to free ranging!
Our first bit of really nasty weather hit today, about late morning. I had let the chickens out of their coop to free range, but when I came back for lunch, no chickens came to greet me! I go searching, and found them happily dust bathing and scratching about in the two broken calf hutches I set up last week!
This isn't EXACTLY how I found them, as they all came running when they saw me, but I tossed some cantaloupe and corn so they would pose for a photo op.
But, if anyone is looking for a way to add some shelter to their run for cheap, broken calf hutches work GREAT.
