You might be a “Southie” if...

Fried taters are matchstick(ish) cut potatoes fried in some kind of tasty grease--mostly served for breakfast.
No, fried taters are potatoes, either sliced or cut in bite-sized pieces (and onions when I make them) fried in frying pan in a bit of Crisco. There’s skill involved when cooking most anything fried so that you don’t burn parts and leave some uncooked or dreadfully sticking to the bottom of the pan. [Picture from www.]

These are eaten either for supper or breakfast, but mostly supper and, yes, it’s probably a “southern thang!” :gigAnd they are absolutely delicious, as most fried things are! Hash browns, are finely grated potatoes fried for breakfast, mostly!

Certainly sounds nasty... yeeekh.
If I hadn't understood your comment after the double-take, I would have been concerned for your... state of mind....
With or without the double-take, it's probably wise to be concerned about my 'state of mind'! :gig

Where do you live, Alabama or Michigan? I’m a Alabamian, transplanted from Georgia, but I’ve lived in <takes a big breath> NJ, AZ, AK, MA, OK, GA, AL. Whew! That list leaves me breathless!
Hey, Ralphie, what am I considered since I have lived in ALL those states? 🤣
