'You people' and your forum!

The chicken disease doesn't stop with actual chickens, either. I just ordered two pieces of art off Etsy and they're not for my house, they're to decorate the coop for my hens LOL

I'm almost slipping on the little patch of ice on the edge of the slope...I got 10 chickens, perfectly convinced that I could be content with them, not needing any more, 10 was enough to love and care for. Ha. First of, I ended up with 12. Yay me! BUT THEN. I got chick fever. Fuzzy, peepy, adorbaleness. A year later I am sitting with 6 fuzzballs on my lap. Oh, and one is a rooster so I can replace any when my flock gets old, and slack in egg production. um..... I only 7 eggs yesterday? That's no as many as I usually get, right? They're slowing down? here rooster rooster these are some pretty hens?

And another one bites the dust!

I started 4 years ago wanting a few chickens for eggs. I now have 6 breeds of chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, Bobwhite quail, peafowl, and am raising two GP puppies. Along the way I hatched 2 emu chicks and raised them for a few months before selling them, and had numerous other breeds, including Coturnix. I have Silkies and Mille Fleur d'Uccles, but my other breeds are all extremely rare-Cream Legbars (autosexing AND blue eggs, and the friendliest chickens in the world!

), Black Bresse, Chocolate Wyandottes, and Mille Fleur Leghorns.

Hang on tight and enjoy the ride!

Haha yes, I am afraid I am to far gone to go back!

Oh well, as long as I'm here I might as well...GET MORE CHICKENS! BUT my coop only holds....29 more chickens.

Wow, they have internet in Forest Hill, WV?!? (joking!) My dad's parents were from that area - Sandstone/Hinton, and my mom's a bit further down the road - Lockbridge/Meadowbridge. Pretty much all of the family that way is long gone, although I still get to Hinton on occasion for a nostalgic day trip or such: Sandstone falls, the DQ on the river for the kid to watch the giant fish, Train days, etc.

I actually don't remember the exact layout of the little towns down that way, but I may drive through Forest Hill on my way to Pence Springs occasionally in the summer.
Yep!! Forest Hill has gone high tech!

I'm originally from NC but my dad is from Ballard. I love it here. It's peaceful. Hinton is doing alot of tearing down and rebuilding. I was amazed at the changes when DD and I went to the movie in Hinton on Sunday. The Ritz theater has been refurbished. They show movies for $5 admission on Friday nights, Saturday afternoon and nights and it's $4 for the Sunday showing. We go to the Sunday showing.. LOL

I have to take back my offer of the Silkies....One of my DD's teacher's came and got 4 of them. She originally only wanted 2 but when she saw them, she just HAD to have 4. So we only have 2 left. DD has named them so I guess they stay. Sorry! When you get some Silkies, you are in for a treat. They are so entertaining!!! Good luck!!

Right...  So i join this forum a while back just looking for helpful information to get off on the right foot managing a small flock of just a few chickens and what do I get?  A freaking addiction that has all ready turned my small flock into a novelty backyard flock of Easter Eggers (once my 5 y.o. found out chickens could lay 'easter eggs'), the probably addition of some silkies because guess what?  Chickens aren't 'just for eggs,' but can be pets too....  I've upgraded my coop twice all ready in less than a year (from a little a-frame tractor, to a small coop w/ attached run, to a larger coop)... but I just can't leave the coop and run empty? (silkies)....  and since I'm adding more chickens anyway...  why not add just a couple more, right?  right?!?  (I think I want a few Seramas)

And now, I sometimes visit the turkey (and other bird) sub-forums....

Stupid chickens.  ;)

Chicken math cure anyone?

I agree I was going to get a few hens, have one coop. What I have is 14 hens with two coops and intend to raise 6 meat birds and buy two lavender orpingtons in July. I blame BFF for tis addiction but if there is a 12 step program don't tell me!
