'You people' and your forum!

Ok, almost finished with my new coop and run and worked a run out larger than I thought I was going to be able to (a few hundred sqf now). Wanting to round out my egg basket and thinking of adding a pullet of each (pending being able to find a breeder):

Exhequer Leghorn - Hard to imagine finding a prettier layer of white eggs. I'll still probably grab a pair or so of silkies once I finish out my LF selection. My alternative plan for a white layer is just tossing a few Trader Joe eggs into an incubator as an experiment for my 5 y.o. and hoping for the best.
Marans or Welsummer - While I'd certainly like one of those really really dark eggs found in various photos around here from Marans, I'm not overly picky here and would settle for anything darkish. It really depends again, on availability.
Olive Egger - If you're going for variety, you have to have one of these right!?!

Naked Neck - Just because. Next year I'll hatch a few eggs and while I don't know that there are (m)any uglier chickens than an adult Naked Neck (I mean, come on... I see their buzzard cousins eating roadkill all the time!), the opposite is true for chicks - what's cuter than a naked neck chick? ;)

That should finish my LF flock. For real.... No, really... Honest.. Cross my heart and hope to d.... Okay, maybe not that certain.

I may very well try both! I've changed my mind on the leghorn. While that variety is a pretty bird; I'm not a fan of leghorns in general (outside of Fog-Horn). I was drawn to the color/pattern, but from the looks of my EE flock, it looks like I may be getting a few splash patterns and while it's not the E. Leghorn; it's close enough for my backyard hobby flock :)

Attitude and personality are primary traits for my bird selection; egg color coming in second. Plumage pattern and color a distant third, so I'll survive without a psychotic leghorn in my flock again. :)

That being said, who knows where it'll stop! A swap meet this weekend... ;)
