I think I see a coming trend as well. Two things happened and now this. First, someone had psoted on craigslist for Hampton Roads, VA that chickens were a cool pet, and the post DID mention BYC, so kudos to that person, who said they had just gotten into chickens. Second, the show AGLifestyles on RFD featured Ideal hatchery. I thought that was sort of odd, why would the benefits of chickens be news to people that normally watch RFD? And now this! A definite trend.

This all sounds a bit like the pot bellied pig craze to me.
