You, your dog, and chocolate. Therapy?

I think my dog is a "snooty" chocolate lover. OR, perhaps he is OCD about wrappers. As I mentioned before, he gets the bars from a top or second-to-top shelf in a closed pantry. He leaves the unwripped wrapper on the floor. (If he ate it, I'd be none the wiser as I'd assume the children ate the chocolate.)

I buy nice chocolate. Very dark, usually organic, often fair trade, but always dark, dark. I keep it on hand and eat a piece when the chocolate bug strikes. Well, over the weekend, my daughter bought stupid Hersey's milk chocolate almond kisses individually wrapped in that annoying foil. She filled a little dish and placed it on my computer table in the living room. The dog sees this table as his terrtory should my back be turned, so I never leave anything there of interest to the dog, lest he lose a limb or his life. (Yes, I'm being facetious! Don't call the animal police.) Well, I forgot about the chocolates. We left, leaving the dog in the living room on "his" couch (that will soon be going to the goodwill just to put the dog in his place). When we got home, my daughter ran into the living room remembering the chocolate and the dog expecting a disaster including a broken dish. Notta. The dog didn't touch it.

So, does the dog prefer the expensive chocolate, or does he not want to bother unwrapping the kisses (don't most dogs eat foil and all)? I suppose I should be glad that the chocolate was undisturbed, but I'm puzzled now.
