Young Bantam hen VERY droopy. hides from others.

There really isn't a wormer that it's recommended you eat eggs after. I think ivermectin is the only one i'd eat eggs after worming. BUt then again since they're shedding dying parasites during the aftermath - I just don't. The thought of it is just too much for me. I'd rather wait. If there were any health issues, I would just feed the eggs back to the chickens. It won't hurt them to have them.

On the ivermectin, here's an article that can help. It gives a lot of different ivermectin options. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=185989 And actually now I get to ask YOU a question. For that weight goat, how do you give the injectable ivermectin? do you give it orally? Or actually inject it? I have two goats that I need to treat but I keep putting off looking up the dosage. Thank you for any help you can offer to that effect.

And i'm glad you understand the antibiotic philosophy. It doesn't occur to some, didn't occur to me a good while back til i had to learn the hard way. So I'd rather others hear it the heart-ache-free way.

You mentioned the birds had cocci... I suspect this is what initiated the problem. Please read this article to understand the consequences that can be left from intestinal damage from cocci:

I would find a commercial mix feed (not that it is "better" per se but at least you can be assured of a minimal standard of nutrient value) and offer yogurt with dry probiotic mixed through ... put some newspapers on the bottom of the cage or use a shallow cardboard box (you can find one or make yourself from the cradboard boxes from the grocery store for instance and put the shavings in that or use sand... hay often harbors mites and mycotoxins etc. ...

Threehorses That is an oral dose of the ivermec. I just straddle the goat. Put my thumb and finger in the corners of the mouth which gives me control of the head and also parts the lips so I can slide the syringe in the corner of the mouth and squirt the med in.

dlhunicorn To clarify the bird that was ill and treated for cocci was not in with this one at the time and they were not together until about 3 months later. Also this bird had started acting a little droopy before she was put with the others but then got worse. I think part of the reason she got worse is because she would hide and not come out to eat or drink.
