Young Buff Brahma collasped today.... between 10 weeks old and 12 weeks old....

HELP HELP!!! I have a young Buff Brahma, she collasped today, when I picked her up she was light as a feather, I've given her food, (i've seen her eat) and water, and just recently gave her water with electrolytes... I have brought her in our house, with the ac, I've noticed her throwing up clear liquid!! Does anyone know what is wrong with her. I think the heat got to her we are in NC and the temps have been 100 degrees, but I am not sure, the other chickens seem to be doing well. Can I save her??? I am in tears... she is such a sweet chicken...

This morning she is doing ok, I believe... she is eating and her crop does not look or feel impacted. It's nice and soft and that is how it should be correct?? Giving her antibotics and keeping a close eye on her.. Haven't noticed her throwing up anymore but she is still rather light. Someone suggested she could have worms, but to treat her slowly, when would it be safe to worm her??? I have many other chickens that were with her yesterday but none are acting or appearing ill... I'd hate to worm them, because of the egg withdrawl period, what are any suggestions....

Can you get a fecal sample to a vet? That will tell you if you need to deworm. 12 weeks is a little young for worms IMO.

I have found that in the heat, the birds drink way to much and then 'regurgitate' if picked up. They also loose a little weight cause they don't eat as much.

Have you thought about Coccidiosis?

Hi there

That is exactly when she threw up, when I picked her up... Today I've seen her eat and drink... I still have her seperated from the others and I may keep her that way till Monday, just to keep a close eye on her... If you worm with a wormer ( for my older chickens what is the egg withdrawl time)

I don't think it is Coccidiosis just because she is eating and alert and there has been know bloody runny poo.... But I am keeping a close eye on her
