thanks so much... I have had chickens for a little over a year and havent had to experience losing a baby. I am not too optimistic now though. havent been able to doctor the wounds yet. Waiting for saline to cool. I have some tiny stuffed animals in with the baby. He is cuddling them. And I have also played some youtube videos of chicks/sounds hoping to comfort him. lol. what a nut I am.

Sounds like you are doing everything right. I'm wondering what neighbor lost a chick? Does your cat leave your chickens alone? Do you think he saw the chick and brought it to you as a gift since you have chickens? I'd love to know why your cat brought you a "relatively unharmed" baby chicken. Sounds like he was being careful!

They still kill them, just want a "squeaky toy" for awhile. I'm glad someone was around to rescue the chick before kitty got serious.

we are napping quietly...Sorry about the lack of photos but I'd rather not disturb him. DBF has reminded me of the bird rescue on the way to his work. So, tomorrow morning the little peeper is going to be in expert hands. I will be informed of his progress and will let you folks know. big sigh. Yes, wondering what neighbor lost a chick...I know of no other chicken keepers in my development. And even though my menfolk here think its a chick of MY hens, I spend so much time outside with the sweet things, I'd have to notice 3 weeks of brooding! wouldn't I????????????

ps: its a wildbird rescue, I am hoping desperately that they WILL treat him(?) I mean, how could you not? And how do we know its not a wildbird. ;-)

Why are you sending it to a rescue? Usually you'll know within 3 days of an attack if the animal is going to make it, because that's about how long it takes for an infection to show up. I think today is the 3rd day?? If it's acting fine, I'd leave it be. JMHO.
