I have silver duckwing/golden laced sebright chickens. They are 3 months old.
They started to crow today and all of a sudden, in the morning, they ran into the woods and won't come out. Even for food.
They were sitting on a low branch by the yard this afternoon and when I threw some food near it, they bolted into the woods. Why is this happening!? Will they go into the coop at night? Is it their instincts? Their parents don't care about the woods.

I notice that my almost 4 month old pullets prefer to stay in the woods. They tend to run across the grass to get to the shelter of the woods faster. Maybe it’s instinct - being smaller, they are safer in the woods.

I have one pullet who has decided humans are scary and it is difficult to get her out of the woods. I am lucky since it’s only the one, and she wants to go to the coop with her friends so eventually we get her in.

It is weird though because my other chickens didn't act like this when they were little.

Well they care about you.
Tell them to get their backsides out there now.
Well, maybe not like that.
Only other thing I can think of is getting behind them and flapping a sheet, but that would lead to frightened chickens, not the best situation. Can you see them?

I can't see them right now but I do know their general location. But there are giant mudpuddles that have a giant layer of mud at the botton and the is no walk area. I am claustrophobic and I tried to go in the woods today and just couldn't.
