Young chickens dying suddenly

The dosage depends on which type you have, the liquid or the powder.

You do not have to see bloody poo in order for it to be coccidiosis. As a matter of fact, it is often too late to treat once you see bloody poo as damage has been done to the intestines.

Eeek! Im not sure. Do they have any amounts on the packaging? Or is it in some ridiculous metric 10mm of 3cc of 15million parts per 2.784 litres??

Wow so what would the symptoms be for coccidiosis?

They normally have it right on the package...usually for a large amount of water and you just have to divide down. I'm pretty sure that mine has it tablespoons per gallon.

If not, you can post the dosage here and someone will be able to help you.

Hey on a totally different subject have you ever had a chick not grow?? Check this out, its two of six bantam easter eggers I got from My Pet Chicken that survived the trip. Her wings are growing but the rest of her hasnt! They're almost two weeks old. The other ee has grown quite a bit.

Sorry, Im not trying to hijack our train of thought here, this is the one that I think had the sensitivity to the pine shavings. I sifted some new ones so only the bigger flakes came thru and a lot of not most of the fine dust, and I also misted it down lightly with water and I swear shes made a bit of improvement since I did it about 3 hours ago......

I know there is a thread on here somewhere about amounts of medications, I was trying to figure it out myself the other day, it worked out to be like 1/6 of a teaspoon for a quart of water for some duramycin. Dont know if I spelled that right.

It looks like my Tractor Supply carries the powder form of Corid. I'll be buying it tomorrow morning. Will keep you all posted...

Since you say that your chips are old, could they have some mold on them? I am more leaning towards them picking up something in the barn and bringing it with them to the coop.

My first thought, especially with the age, is Coccidiosis. You can treat with Corid. If they have it, it will save the rest..if they don't have it, it won't hurt them.
X2
