It is not that difficult to have eyeballs in our heads and see that a rooster is abusing hens. Some people just don't care or are unobservant of such things that others easily see.
Every breed of dog, both foolish and utilitarian, was developed from wild dogs.
A dog with a snout so short it dies from over-heating (bull dog), or head so narrow it has lttle room for brain (irish setter) can be blamed on fashion.
But it doesn't *need* to be that way unless animal daily living conditions are not a concern. Happy birds live longer, have less health problems, digest feed more efficiently, and lay more.
